Margaret`s Hope Tippy Clonal ftgfop-1/DJ178/2nd Flush 2012 Darjeeling tea

Margaret`s Hope Tippy clonal ftgfop-1 /DJ 178/2nd flush 2012 Darjeeling tea

We have been able to procure the finest quality Muscatel Darjeeling teas produced from the china bushes and now it was a challenge to procure something sweeter, tender and fruity tea. I personally wanted to have something different so on the last week of June 2012, I started to concentrate and taste more samples of the clonal varieties.

Though I have procured some of the finest clonal 2nd flush 2012 teas, but this lot from Margaret`s Hope is really very fruity. The dry leafs are larger in size and has a lot of long size silver tips. The dry leafs have a very fruity aroma of ripe grapes, plum, sugarcanes and dry fruits and leaves a bright/golden liquor in the cup.

Each sip is extremely fruity and gives out clear hints of pineapples and muscatel on the palate.
I personally think this is an exceptional tea available at a very reasonable price and is available at a very limited quantity. Tea Lovers who prefer teas with high fruity flavors and mellow after taste should not miss this tea at all.

Castleton Muscatel ftgfop-1/DJ85/2nd flush 2012

This is one of finest muscatel 2nd flush offering of the season and is harvested at one of my personal favourite garden in Darjeeling. The Castleton Tea Estate is world renowned for its high quality teas like the Castleton moonlight and Castleton Muscatel.
I have not been too happy though with the Castleton Moonlight batches this year so I have not included it in our list this year but I have been hunting for the Castleton Muscatel batches from last 2 years and finally this one has really won my appreciation.

This Castleton Muscatel tea is harvested from the pure and matured china bushes during the peak 2nd flush harvest period and tea lovers around the world compare this tea with Muscat grapes or wines for its fruitiness and sweetness.

The lot no.Dj85 is an extremely well made tea. This tea is sorted smaller in size and has a delicious fruity aroma in the dry leaf state. Each sip releases a blast of fruity flavors of ripe mangoes and cherries and ends with a smooth muscatel flavor which stays on the palate for a long time.

I would personally recommend this tea to tea lovers who would love to try out a true high quality tea this season.

We had been receiving samples from this plantation of Darjeeling from last year but for some reasons we had not been able to approve any of its teas. Similarly like other seasons we received a few samples from this 2nd flush harvest also. I was really pleased to see and taste the lot no.DJ 79 tea sample as it is a very well made tea and it has really satisfied my palate.

The dry leaves are well processed and have a delicious aroma of freshly baked cookies and bread in this state. An Approach to 2nd Flush Darjeeling tea 2012

An Approach to 2nd flush 2012:

The most premium harvest has just started in the Darjeeling tea Industry. It is known as the 2nd flush harvest. In this harvest the word famous “Muscatel” teas are produced in Darjeeling. The Muscatel flavor in the tea is often compared with the Muscat wine or grapes by tea connoisseurs around the world and Darjeeling is known to produce the Best Muscatel Black teas in the world.

Like any other harvests the soil and the climatic conditions plays a vital role in this harvest. For a perfect 2nd flush tea the days should be hot and the nights have to be colder so that the shoots and the leafs gets dehydrated and the finest muscatel teas are produced from the most dehydrated leafs. The dry leafs of a good 2nd flush tea should be brown/coppery in appearance with tiny gold tips in the china varietals and large and bold gold tips in the clonal varieties of Darjeeling teas.

We have been tasting a lot of current tea samples from various gardens like Jungpana ,Goomtee,Castleton,Puttabong,Turzum,Sungma,Teesta Valley,Gielle etc. and we can confirm  that the best 2nd flush teas will start coming in from the 10th-15th of June 2012 and all the teas being made before this time frame are pre-2nd flush teas.

As usual we request all our tea lover friends to have patience as we are working hard to procure the best 2nd flush teas and as soon as we finish procuring our list of teas we will inform all our friends and I guarantee we will offer the best!

Dooteriah sftgfop-1 /1st flush 2012 Darjeeling tea

Dooteriah sftgfop-1 – 1st flush 2012 Darjeeling tea

I am really happy to receive this excellent batch of tea from one of the oldest plantation in Darjeeling. Dooteriah plantation is situated at the sonada region of Darjeeling valley. This estate mostly has china variety plants. They also have clonal plants but it is very less in quantity. They specially use the clonal leafs for making ornamental teas like oolongs and white teas.
I had received good complements for a batch of dooteriah 1st flush last year from several customers and they had also requested us to offer a batch of good tea like last year from this estate. The dooteriah plantation also suffered a very draught like situation in the early month of March and the quality was not up to our expectations so we had not been able to offer a batch of good tea from this estate so far.
On the 10th of April we had received a few samples from the Dooteriah plantation and I was very happy to choose the lot No. 48.This batch of tea is plucked from the highest quality china bushes of this high elevation plantation. The dry leafs are very well sorted and withered as a result of which the tea looks extremely greenish in appearance. This tea is best steeped for 3 minutes and the cup gives out extremely light yellow liquor. Each sip reminds of exotic fruits which ends with a pine like after taste.
This is really a very high quality tea available at a very reasonable price. I`m sure this exotic tea will be liked by all.
