Castleton Moonlight DJ -91/ 2nd flush 2013 darjeeling tea

Castleton Moonlight DJ-91/ 2nd flush Darjeeling tea 2013-06-28

The Castleton Moonlight tea has earned its reputation among high quality Darjeeling teas worldwide for its light cup and extremely fruity aroma. The name Moonlight is given to the tea as the tea maker claims that this tea is picked during the early hours of the morning when the dew drops are present on it for that extra fine plucking of the tea leafs to manufacture this awesome tea.

The batch we are offering this season is Castleton Moonlight DJ 91. This is a peak season 2nd flush 2013 Darjeeling tea. This excellent batch of tea is plucked from the finest quality young AV2 (Ambari Vegetal) clonal bushes which are famous for its extremely delicious flavour and taste. This batch of tea is plucked from the “Allay” section of the garden which has the best young clonal bushes in this plantation. The “Allay” section of this garden stands at an elevation of 4000 feet from the sea level. Also not to forget this awesome batch of tea is manufactured by some of the finest tea makers of Darjeeling tea industry. The Castleton Moonlight is high withered for the bright and bold look in the dry leaf state. This also makes the cup lighter and helps in longer shelve life. The oxidisation process is also shorter than usual Darjeeling teas for a typical light fruity cup but slightly more than an oolong, so this is to be noted that this is absolutely not an oolong tea.

The Castleton Moonlight DJ 91 / 2nd flush 2013 is an excellent quality tea made and plucked from the young AV2 clonal bushes. The dry leafs are wiry in appearance and contains a lot of unbroken silver tips in this state. The dry leafs gives out an exotic aroma of exotic fruits, nuts and chocolates.
When steeped for complete 4 minutes the cup gives out bright orange / golden liquor in the cup. Each sip reminds of fruity notes of apples, grapes and slight hint of honey and ends with a muscatel and lemony aftertaste on the palate

We have carefully selected this excellent batch of tea and I`m sure my tea lover friends will fall in love with this one!

I am really happy to offer this fantastic lot of muscatel Darjeeling tea from the Dooteriah and Kalej Valley Tea Estate of Darjeeling. I must say that we are very lucky to have a tea like this in this season when the prices of the teas have gone high due to the sudden rains in Darjeeling which has made high quality tea making in 2nd flush harvest a bit difficult.

I sincerely thank Mr. Yogdeep Gurung (General Manager and a senior tea maker of the Dooteriah and Kalej Valley Tea Estates in Darjeeling. These group of gardens belong to the Alchemist group of companies in India) for making such an excellent batch of tea and offering us to taste the sample of this tea. The moment I strained the tea in my tea tasting cup I was truly pleased with this beautiful muscatel variety Darjeeling tea.

This tea is a very well made tea plucked from the high elevation china bushes of this plantation. The dry leafs are well sorted and twisted and has a very fruity aroma of grapes, spices and slightly woody in this state.
When steeped for complete 5 minutes this awesome tea releases bright golden/orange liquor in the cup. Each sip in the cup reminds of fruity notes of grapes  , oranges and slight hint of nuts which further ends with a dry muscatel taste on the palate.

Puttabong Organic 2nd flush 2013 Darjeeling teas

Puttabong Organic 2nd flush 2013 Darjeeling teas

As I have mentioned in my previous posts that we were at a standstill for the 2nd flush teas due to the uncertain rainfall during the last week of May 2013. I was continuously in touch with the different tea makers of various plantations of Darjeeling and regularly tasted about 30 tea samples every day as I was in search for the perfect teas as usual. My only concern was to maintain the same quality standards as usual so we were not in a hurry to be the one to offer the 2nd flush teas first to the tea lovers all around the world and land upon procuring the pre-season teas in the name of 2nd flush teas.
On the 8th of June 2013 Mr.Somani ( Superintendant,Puttabong and North Tukvar Tea Estate) had send me few samples of their clonal varieties and unfortunately I did not like any of the teas as each teas had that touch of rains that suddenly occurred during the 1st week of June 2013.
I requested him to offer us something special as usual and he promised me that he will definitely make some great teas if we have a suitable climatic conditions. I must say we were lucky as from the 10th of June 2013 it stopped raining in Darjeeling and we were having bright sunny day and also the climatic temperatures were quite high.
So on the 13th of June 2013 we received the sample of the Puttabong Clonal queen and I must admit that this was the 1st exceptional tea of the harvest that we received from this plantation and I am simply in love with this batch of tea. This batch of tea has an exceptional 2nd flush character, The dry leafs are well twisted and has a dehydrated look in this state which is a true sign of a pure 2nd flush tea. The dry leafs gives out delicious aroma of ripe rhododendron flowers, chocolates and honey.
When steeped for complete 5 minutes the cup gives out slightly dark golden liquor. Each sip reminds of peaches and ripe apples and leaves a honey and musk like flavour on the palate as an after taste. This batch is Puttabong Clonal Queen sftgfop-1 EX-13/2nd flush 2013 Darjeeling tea.

Well the excitement was not over when Mr.Somani gave me a call and said that he has made an exceptional muscatel variety from the china origin bushes of the Tukvar subdivision of this plantation. Puttabong “Kakra”musk organic sftgfop-1/2nd flush 2013 Darjeeling tea. This awesome batch of tea surely sets new standards for the Puttabong tea estates for its 2nd flush teas. This plantation is known worldwide for its high quality 1st flush teas.

I must admit that this is one of the best muscatel teas that we have offered in last 3 years. This is a great muscatel variety Darjeeling tea plucked from the high elevation china bushes of the Tukvar division of this prestigious plantation of Darjeeling. In local language in Darjeeling the term “Kakra Musk” means a muscatel variety tea made from the most dehydrated leafs and shoots.
This awesome batch of tea is sorted small in size and releases a delicious sweet aroma of sugarcanes, pine leafs and sweet jaggery.
When steeped for complete 4 minutes this delicious tea releases golden orange liquor in the cup.
Every sip reminds of exotic fresh fruits and leaves an unique and delicious hint of pine leafs , cardamom and a sweet muscatel aroma on the palate as an aftertaste.

As usual we have perfectly selected these awesome batches of unique 2nd flush teas and I assure all tea lovers that they will fall in love with these teas once they try these teas!
