The teas produced by this tea estate are totally different from other teas estates of Darjeeling and is uniquely exotic and delicious. Every batch of tea that they produce has a deep fruity floral aroma and a pronounced taste. We have already seen the uniqueness of their teas in the past few years, especially the Samabeong Burgundy musk 2nd flush 2018 was a massive hit in our catalogue, every tea lover friend of ours, appreciated this batch and we are still getting plenty of orders for this batch. One common complement that we are receiving from Tea Lovers around the world is it`s shelve life, each batch we have selected so far from Samabeong tea estate has matured very well over the time and even after 1 year from manufacturing date their teas have matured enough to taste even more  delicious. One can say from this character that Samabeong teas are very well manufactured.

This year we had to wait a bit longer for the 1st flush 2019 batches from this tea estate since this tea estate is located at a very high altitude and since we had regular rains, hail storm and snow fall in Darjeeling during the end weeks of February, so the climatic conditions were extremely cold in this area for tea cultivation. We received some very high quality samples during the 1st week of April 2019 from a friend of ours and we immediately chose the Samabeong Organic Spring blossoms DJ 2 which is purely made from P312 clonal bushes. The dry leaves are very well twisted, rolled and sorted and has a lot of furry silver tips in it. The overall appearance of this exotic batch of Darjeeling tea is very wiry and clean.

The dry leaves gives out delicious aroma of exotic fruits like raw mangoes, peaches and apricots with under tones of fresh sweet honey. When steeped for complete 5 minutes the cup gives out bright yellow liquor. Each sip gives a deep and rich taste of ripe mangoes, oranges, sweet muscat grapes and peaches with slight undertones of exotic spices and further leaves a prolonged sweet honey and lemony like after taste on the palate.
We recommend all tea lovers to try this batch of excellent 1st flush 2019 Darjeeling tea and experience its uniqueness in rich fruity floral flavour and deep fruity taste.

An approach to 1st flush 2016 Darjeeling tea

An approach to 1st flush 2016 Darjeeling tea:

It has been a very dry and cold winter in Darjeeling after the autumn flush harvest in Darjeeling since last weeks of December 2015. We received a very good rainfall on the 10th of February 2016 which is surely a very good sign for the upcoming 1st flush 2016 Darjeeling tea harvest. It’s very difficult to choose the right 1st flush Darjeeling tea during the initial stage of the 1st flush harvest as the amount of the fresh leaves and shoots on the tea bushes are very limited and most of the lots produced during this period often contains some winter leafs in it and if one is really in a hurry to get the 1st flush teas of the initial stage of the this harvest then he/she can land on buying a mixed lot or a batch of winter and spring mixed Darjeeling tea.So one has to be very careful while choosing the teas.

Since we are in this trade for the last 70 years and have been tasting the samples of different teas right from the beginning to the end of the harvest each year we have seen that once the few rounds of plucking is done properly during this harvest we can get rid of the winter leafs   and only then we expect to get the fresh shoots and buds from the tea bushes which is actually used to make the 1st flush Darjeeling teas.

We have tasted few samples from few of the gardens of Darjeeling and Dooars and can say that this year the 1st flush harvest is a bit late. We expect that we will get the early 1st flush teas from the clonal bushes like the AV2, P312, and BB157 etc. The 1st flush teas from the pure china bushes will take some time to arrive as the china bushes usually takes some time to conceive the new leafs and shoots during the early spring due to cold and dry conditions during this time.

A pure and good 1st flush Darjeeling tea should have a bright greenish appearance, filled with tiny white silver tips. The cup should give out bright yellow liquor in the cup with fruity-floral aroma with a bit of astringency at the end of each sip.

As usual we will taste and only procure the early season pure and true first flush teas and start offering them to our tea lover friends all around the world through our website. Till then we request you to keep visiting us at our website www.teaemporium.net and our official face book page www.facebook.com/teaemporium

Last year all our tea lover friends had really liked the Castleton Muscatel 2nd flush lot that we had offered. Finally when we started having hot and sunny days from the 2nd week of June 2013 we tasted almost every muscatel lot samples from Castleton. Castleton Moonlight DJ -91/ 2nd flush 2013 darjeeling tea

Castleton Moonlight DJ-91/ 2nd flush Darjeeling tea 2013-06-28

The Castleton Moonlight tea has earned its reputation among high quality Darjeeling teas worldwide for its light cup and extremely fruity aroma. The name Moonlight is given to the tea as the tea maker claims that this tea is picked during the early hours of the morning when the dew drops are present on it for that extra fine plucking of the tea leafs to manufacture this awesome tea.

The batch we are offering this season is Castleton Moonlight DJ 91. This is a peak season 2nd flush 2013 Darjeeling tea. This excellent batch of tea is plucked from the finest quality young AV2 (Ambari Vegetal) clonal bushes which are famous for its extremely delicious flavour and taste. This batch of tea is plucked from the “Allay” section of the garden which has the best young clonal bushes in this plantation. The “Allay” section of this garden stands at an elevation of 4000 feet from the sea level. Also not to forget this awesome batch of tea is manufactured by some of the finest tea makers of Darjeeling tea industry. The Castleton Moonlight is high withered for the bright and bold look in the dry leaf state. This also makes the cup lighter and helps in longer shelve life. The oxidisation process is also shorter than usual Darjeeling teas for a typical light fruity cup but slightly more than an oolong, so this is to be noted that this is absolutely not an oolong tea.

The Castleton Moonlight DJ 91 / 2nd flush 2013 is an excellent quality tea made and plucked from the young AV2 clonal bushes. The dry leafs are wiry in appearance and contains a lot of unbroken silver tips in this state. The dry leafs gives out an exotic aroma of exotic fruits, nuts and chocolates.
When steeped for complete 4 minutes the cup gives out bright orange / golden liquor in the cup. Each sip reminds of fruity notes of apples, grapes and slight hint of honey and ends with a muscatel and lemony aftertaste on the palate

An Approach to 1st flush 2013 Darjeeling tea

We are all very excited in the Darjeeling hills to see the winter pass away since the much awaited 1st flush 2013 crop season is about to start. Last year since the winter started off early so all most all the gardens had to stop their tea production by the 1st week of December 2012.

The 1st flush season for every Darjeeling estates is very important as this harvest fetches them high prices for their quality production. Some of the gardens in the lower portion of Darjeeling hills starts producing their 1st flush teas by March 1st week but the teas produced and offered before the mentioned period is mostly mixed leafs from the winter harvest and very small amount of real 1st flush leafs. For a true 1st flush harvest every garden has to get rid of the old leafs of winter from their bushes and once the whole section of the plantation gets rid of their old leafs then the real and true 1st flush harvest starts and we have noticed from last 2 decades that this harvest never starts before 1st week-2nd week of March.

It is slightly warmer now in February in Darjeeling than the month of January and the right temperature difference between day and night for a good 1st flush crop is about 9-11 degrees Celsius. Teas produced from the lower elevation garden looks more green in colour since the leafs contains more chlorophyll and the teas produced from high elevation are slightly darker is colour and contains lots of silver tips.

A very good and well made 1st flush tea should have well twisted greenish leafs and lots of silver tips. The liquor of the tea should be light golden (almost like champagne) colour and the aroma should be tenderly flowery/ fruity and a slight astringency should remain on the palate as an after taste.

We have already started tasting some samples from few low elevation gardens in Darjeeling and personally feel that the true 1st flush have not started coming yet. As usual we are eagerly waiting for exclusive 1st flush teas from high elevation and reputed plantations of Darjeeling.

We request all our valuable tea lover friends who have been blindly trusting us and buying our high quality teas from us from our online store or our retail store in Darjeeling to have patience and wait our list of true and high quality 1st flush 2013 Darjeeling teas.

We will inform you all through newsletters and our Face book page.

Autumn Flush darjeeling tea 2012

Autumn flush 2012 Darjeeling teas

The autumn flush Darjeeling tea harvest is one of the most eagerly awaited harvests of the year in the Darjeeling tea industry. This premium harvest will start from the November 1st week of this year and we predict it will end by December 1st week as it is getting very cold in Darjeeling every day from the 2nd week of October 2012. The best autumn flush teas are harvest when the day and night temperature difference is about 10-11 degrees Celsius. The current temperature of Darjeeling is about 17 -19 degrees Celsius during the day and 10-11 degrees Celsius during the night.
The autumn flush Darjeeling tea harvest is done after the 3 months of monsoon harvest in Darjeeling. During the monsoons the produced quantity of Darjeeling tea is high but the quality is not very high compared to the 1st and the 2nd flush harvests. So tea lovers and producers of Darjeeling tea eagerly await the arrival of this premium tea harvest.
The dry leafs of the pure autumn teas does not have a very attractive ornamental look like the 1st and 2nd flush teas. The cup gives out very bright yellow liquor and the aroma is much matured and most of the teas during this harvest have a very unique woody and pine like aroma.
We have already started to taste a lot of teas from various plantations in Darjeeling and we will offer the finest autumn flush Darjeeling teas as usual as soon as we receive the perfect teas.

An Approach to 2nd Flush Darjeeling tea 2012

An Approach to 2nd flush 2012:

The most premium harvest has just started in the Darjeeling tea Industry. It is known as the 2nd flush harvest. In this harvest the word famous “Muscatel” teas are produced in Darjeeling. The Muscatel flavor in the tea is often compared with the Muscat wine or grapes by tea connoisseurs around the world and Darjeeling is known to produce the Best Muscatel Black teas in the world.

Like any other harvests the soil and the climatic conditions plays a vital role in this harvest. For a perfect 2nd flush tea the days should be hot and the nights have to be colder so that the shoots and the leafs gets dehydrated and the finest muscatel teas are produced from the most dehydrated leafs. The dry leafs of a good 2nd flush tea should be brown/coppery in appearance with tiny gold tips in the china varietals and large and bold gold tips in the clonal varieties of Darjeeling teas.

We have been tasting a lot of current tea samples from various gardens like Jungpana ,Goomtee,Castleton,Puttabong,Turzum,Sungma,Teesta Valley,Gielle etc. and we can confirm  that the best 2nd flush teas will start coming in from the 10th-15th of June 2012 and all the teas being made before this time frame are pre-2nd flush teas.

As usual we request all our tea lover friends to have patience as we are working hard to procure the best 2nd flush teas and as soon as we finish procuring our list of teas we will inform all our friends and I guarantee we will offer the best!

1st Flush 2011 Darjeeling tea -Barnesbeg Clonal Tips EX-1

1st Flush 2011 Darjeeling tea -Barnesbeg Clonal Tips EX-1 :

This exceptional clonal young tea caught my eyes when Mr.M.Pradhan (Manager) of Barnesbeg Tea Estate in Darjeeling offered me a sample of the 1st ever manufactured tea of their 100% young and pure AV2 clonal bushes which was planted 5 years ago in an area which has an altitude of 2500 feet from the sea level, the made tea is extremely tender and young and consists of full size silver tips, due to the tenderness of the raw leaves the manufactured tea is well rolled and sorted, this tea can be multiple steeped for at least 3 -4 times and each time the tea shows a different character in the cup, extremely fruity cup that finishes with a slight nutty and rosy after taste, This extremely limited quantity tea can also be enjoyed by white tea lovers.

Margaret`s Hope 1st Flush Darjeeling tea 2009

Margaret’s Hope 1st Flush Darjeeling tea 2009

As days past away hunting for good teas in various gardens in Darjeeling, I got a call from Mr. Anil Gurung (factory assistant) Margaret’s Hope Tea Estate that a couple of excellent batches of tea have just been made and I should be there by the early morning on the 21st of March 2009 as another big buyer from Japan was coming for the same tea, so I quickly took my camera and started my journey from Darjeeling to Margaret’s Hope, we were passing through some very steep road and beautiful scenery could be seen from the car’s window but I was actually getting impatient, finally I happened to reach the garden and I saw Mr. Anil Gurung and Mr. Pande (Manager of the garden) waiting for me, I immediately got down from the car and we all headed for the tea tasting room of the garden, after I reached there I came to know that the big Japanese buyer had given her bid for the teas and wanted the teas at any cost, so I was a bit nervous while we did the tea tasting but I must say both the teas were simply excellent, the first one that I was offered was the Margaret’s hope ftgfop-1 china spl.DJ-4 which was made from pure china origin (bushes grown from the seeds)leafs and shoots, had a very bright leaf appearance and the cup showed some very interesting fruity character and the most important factor regarding this tea was that it had an after taste of young fruits and flowers that remained on the palate for a long time so there was no turning back ,so we had a stiff bidding completion with the other Japanese buyer and luckily we got the tea, Infact I was very happy that I got a very nice tea in the time when there was very less amount of good teas in Darjeeling, the next tea was this tea called Margaret’s hope (Wonder) White tea, this tea is made exclusively made for us from young clonal bushes like AV2 and P312 by Mr. Gurung (factory assistant ,Margaret’s hope),with full unsorted long leafs and full sized buds, I must say it’s a master craftsmanship right from the tea plucker who carefully plucked the tender shoots and buds to the factory assistant who made the tea, its simply a beauty from dry leaf to the cup, a true champagne of the 1st Flush Darjeeling.
