   We are extremely proud and also very happy to present a lot of peak 2^nd flush 2015 harvest Darjeeling tea from this estate of Darjeeling. As soon as the 1^st flush 2015 Darjeeling harvest ended in the mid month of May 2015, I had already planned out to procure only the peak time 2^nd flush 2015 harvest Darjeeling teas from some of the small gardens of Darjeeling. These gardens make small quantity of teas each year and since the tea produced are in such small batches, it never reaches out to most of the consumers who are real Darjeeling tea lovers. Pussimbing tea estate is one of the gardens in Darjeeling who makes extremely high quality teas but in small batches which are the reason most of the merchant selling Darjeeling teas do not have this tea in their collection.

     Pussimbing tea estate is located about 6 kilometres from the Ghoom railway station of Darjeeling region. It is a certified bio-organic tea plantation which has 100% pure china bushes. This plantation is divided into 3 divisions – Pussimbing Division, Lami & Minjoo Division and Kothi Dhura Division. This premium plantation of Darjeeling belongs to the Chamong Group.

      After tasting a few samples from them ( I must admit – all were really good) we selected the Pussimbing DJ 70 2^nd flush 2015 Darjeeling tea lot.

   This is the 1^st line of pure 1^st flush 2014 Darjeeling tea that has rolled out from this world renowned tea plantation. This particular batch of tea has been plucked from the pure china bushes of the high elevation section of the plantation.

    We are really happy to offer the 1^st lot from this high elevation garden in Darjeeling. Dooteriah tea estate is one of the tea estates in Darjeeling which has fully matured china bushes. Over the years we have seen this garden making exceptional batches of tea. Our regular clients have enjoyed and appreciated teas from this garden in the past especially the batch from autumn 2013 was my personal favourite.

       I am very much thankful to Mr Yogdeep Gurung (General Manager) of Dooteriah and Kalej valley Tea estates for offering this batch to us. This particular batch of tea was plucked from the high elevation slopes of this plantation painfully by the expert pluckers of this plantation. Selective plucking was done to pluck only the tender most shoots and buds from the bushes to produce this awesome lot of tea.

     This fantastic lot of tea has created a benchmark for high quality teas that will be added to our list of teas later when we get more samples from other gardens.

   The Risheehat tea estate is one of the oldest plantations of Darjeeling and practices organic farming.        The Thurbo Estate is one of the largest tea estates of Darjeeling tea industry situated in the Mirik Valley of Darjeeling district. Reputed and world famous gardens like the Singbulli, Phuguri, Gopaldhara, Seeyok, Selimbong, Okayti and Thurbo Tea Estates are situated in the Mirik Valley. Since Mirik Valley is slightly warmer than other places of Darjeeling, the clonal varieties grows very well in this area and are also world famous for its high quality teas.

     We received the sample of Thurbo Tippy Clonal ftgfop-1 DJ 186/ 2^nd flush 2013 Darjeeling tea when we had almost finished choosing our list of 2^nd flush 2013 Darjeeling teas. The moment I opened the sample packed I was delighted to see the leaf appearance of the tea and the aroma that just came out of the sample packet felt like “heaven “in one word. The Thurbo Tea Estate has various varieties of clonal bushes and this awesome batch of tea is made from the P312 and S 1240 clonal variety. Also not to forget this excellent batch of tea is made by a master tea maker of the Darjeeling tea industry (Mr. J.D.Rai. Superintendant of the Goodricke group of tea gardens in Darjeeling).

   The dry leafs are well sorted and twisted and have a lot of shiny needle like silver tips. The dry leafs also gives out delicious aroma of honey, oranges and dry forest leafs in this state.            The Castleton Moonlight tea has earned its reputation among high quality Darjeeling teas worldwide for its light cup and extremely fruity aroma. The name Moonlight is given to the tea as the tea maker claims that this tea is picked during the early hours of the morning when the dew drops are present on it for that extra fine plucking of the tea leafs to manufacture this awesome tea.

           The batch we are offering this season is Castleton Moonlight DJ 91. This is a peak season 2^nd flush 2013 Darjeeling tea. This excellent batch of tea is plucked from the finest quality young AV2 (Ambari Vegetal) clonal bushes which are famous for its extremely delicious flavour and taste. This batch of tea is plucked from the “Allay” section of the garden which has the best young clonal bushes in this plantation. The “Allay” section of this garden stands at an elevation of 4000 feet from the sea level. Also not to forget this awesome batch of tea is manufactured by some of the finest tea makers of Darjeeling tea industry. The Castleton Moonlight is high withered for the bright and bold look in the dry leaf state. This also makes the cup lighter and helps in longer shelve life. The oxidisation process is also shorter than usual Darjeeling teas for a typical light fruity cup but slightly more than an oolong, so this is to be noted that this is absolutely not an oolong tea.

The Castleton Moonlight DJ 91 / 2^nd flush 2013 is an excellent quality tea made and plucked from the young AV2 clonal bushes. The dry leafs are wiry in appearance and contains a lot of unbroken silver tips in this state. The dry leafs gives out an exotic aroma of exotic fruits, nuts and chocolates.

       When steeped for complete 4 minutes the cup gives out bright orange / golden liquor in the cup. Each sip reminds of fruity notes of apples, grapes and slight hint of honey and ends with a muscatel and lemony aftertaste on the palate

Thurbo clonal Exotica Ex23/White tea/2nd flush 2012 Darjeeling tea

This is a super premium White tea plucked from the 100% pure and young AV2 clonal bushes of this prestigious plantation in Darjeeling. Only one leaf and a bud is plucked by the expert pluckers of this garden during the early hours of the morning as a result of which the made tea has a very attractive ornamental look in this state. The dry leafs also gives out a refreshing aroma of fresh fruits and flowers. 
When this exotic tea is brewed for 4 minutes and strained into a cup. It gives out bright pale yellow liquor in the cup and a blast of different exotic flavors raises high above the cup.
Each sip reminds of sweet ripe mangoes and fresh white grapes which further ends with a unique lemony taste which lingers on the palate for a long time.

    This is one of finest muscatel 2^nd flush offering of the season and is harvested at one of my personal favourite garden in Darjeeling. The Castleton Tea Estate is world renowned for its high quality teas like the Castleton moonlight and Castleton Muscatel.

      I have not been too happy though with the Castleton Moonlight batches this year so I have not included it in our list this year but I have been hunting for the Castleton Muscatel batches from last 2 years and finally this one has really won my appreciation.

      This Castleton Muscatel tea is harvested from the pure and matured china bushes during the peak 2^nd flush harvest period and tea lovers around the world compare this tea with Muscat grapes or wines for its fruitiness and sweetness.

       The lot no.Dj85 is an extremely well made tea. This tea is sorted smaller in size and has a delicious fruity aroma in the dry leaf state. Each sip releases a blast of fruity flavors of ripe mangoes and cherries and ends with a smooth muscatel flavor which stays on the palate for a long time.

     I would personally recommend this tea to tea lovers who would love to try out a true high quality tea this season.
