Singell Organic Muscatel sftgfop-1 DJ 67 Darjeeling tea 2nd flush 2015

Singell Organic Muscatel sftgfop-1 DJ 67 Darjeeling tea 2nd flush 2015

The Singell Estate is situated in the Kurseong sub-division of Darjeeling district which produces 100% pure Organic Darjeeling teas. World renowned tea gardens like Castleton, Makaibari, Ambootia, Jungpana ,Goomtee  and Singell is situated in this area and is famous for making the most unique and high quality Muscatel Darjeeling teas during the 2nd flush Harvest.

We were continuously receiving samples from the various plantations of Darjeeling during the 2nd flush harvest but we were looking out for an extremely high quality Muscatel Darjeeling tea. Most of the muscatel teas could not satisfy us from this area of Darjeeling because there was a rainfall during the peak 2nd flush harvest time (in the month of June) in some of the most reputed gardens in this area.

We are really satisfied and proud to have this lot of pure 2nd flush Muscatel tea from Singell.    This is a Super Premium quality organic muscatel variety pure 2nd flush Darjeeling tea plucked from 100% pure china bushes of this prestigious plantation of Darjeeling.

The dry leafs are well sorted and twisted and has a lot of gold tips in it. The dry leafs gives out delicious aroma of chocolates, ripe grapes, apricots, dry coconuts and dates.

When steeped for complete 5 minutes the cup releases golden orange liquor which further releases fresh and delicious aroma of exotic dry fruits. Each sip is extremely smooth and delicious which reminds notes of rich and ripe Muscat grapes, honey with slight hint of cherries and a rich muscatel after taste that lingers on the palate for a long time.

The most attractive character of this particular tea is that each sip has an in-depth fruity taste which is really rare to find in most of the teas produced in Darjeeling these days.

We highly recommend every Darjeeling tea lover to try this one, this tea will surely give you the different experience of a truly high quality 2nd flush muscatel Darjeeling tea.

Castleton Muscatel FTGFOP-1/DJ85/2nd flush 2012

Castleton Muscatel ftgfop-1/DJ85/2nd flush 2012

This is one of finest muscatel 2nd flush offering of the season and is harvested at one of my personal favourite garden in Darjeeling. The Castleton Tea Estate is world renowned for its high quality teas like the Castleton moonlight and Castleton Muscatel.
I have not been too happy though with the Castleton Moonlight batches this year so I have not included it in our list this year but I have been hunting for the Castleton Muscatel batches from last 2 years and finally this one has really won my appreciation.

This Castleton Muscatel tea is harvested from the pure and matured china bushes during the peak 2nd flush harvest period and tea lovers around the world compare this tea with Muscat grapes or wines for its fruitiness and sweetness.

The lot no.Dj85 is an extremely well made tea. This tea is sorted smaller in size and has a delicious fruity aroma in the dry leaf state. Each sip releases a blast of fruity flavors of ripe mangoes and cherries and ends with a smooth muscatel flavor which stays on the palate for a long time.

I would personally recommend this tea to tea lovers who would love to try out a true high quality tea this season.

An Approach to 2nd Flush 2010 Darjeeling tea 2010

An Approach to 2nd Flush 2010 Darjeeling tea:

After a grand success in 1st Flush harvest we are really looking forward towards the 2nd Flush harvest of 2010, this year during the 1st Flush harvest we suffered a lot due to the draught but I never gave up and no body can claim that we had come up with some under rated teas but as usual the best teas are available in our list of selections and I’m glad to announce that we had no competition in the quality tea field as I’m really proud to say that most people now do understand the early harvest factor and the late harvest factor and they really do not get carried away as before by just the same name ( eg Puttabong Queen) and the price factor, anyways coming back to the 2nd Flush harvest of 2010 I must say that we are having a very favorable climatic conditions so far, its been raining till the end of 3rd week of May and its getting dry from the starting day of the 4th week of May which is really a very good sign.
The best 2nd Flush teas are made from the most dehydrated leafs and shoots (in local language we call it the “Kakra”) unlike the 1st Flush where the best teas are made from the most tender leafs and shoots, In 2nd Flush the world famous Muscatel character takes place which is often compared with the Muscat grapes or Muscat wine by the Tea connoisseurs around the world. A very good 2nd Flush tea should have a typical muscatel flavour and coppery liquor in the cup. The most important factor about the 2nd Flush harvest is that it takes place between the last weeks of May- last week of June but the best 2nd Flush teas are made during the end of 1st week of June- end of 2nd week of June, hence the tea makers just get 1 week-10 days time to make the best teas in individual tea gardens in Darjeeling and each garden can make only 10-20 invoices of pure 2nd Flush (approx. 2500kgs) and the rest are pre-2nd Flush crop or post-2nd Flush crop.
We have already started tasting various samples from different plantation in Darjeeling and to be honest as usual I will not disclose which teas I’ll come up with as I’ve often seen that various online vendors tends to follow what we procure and offer, I really doubt if they really understand what they are offering…..anyways if you have enjoyed our 1st Flush selections of this year then please keep visiting our website and we promise you that we will come up with simply the best teas which will be true value for your money….Have a great tea time!

Castleton (ftgfop-1) Autumn china spl. DJ -357 Autumn Flush 2009

Castleton (ftgfop-1) Autumn china spl. DJ -357 Autumn Flush 2009

We all know that the Castleton Tea Estate in Darjeeling is best known for its china type muscatel teas which are made in 2nd Flush and some in Autumn Flush. The garden could not provide us with any of its Muscatel teas in the 2nd Flush as they were under forward contract meaning some one had booked all their muscatel teas in 2nd Flush, I constantly kept in touch with the management during the 2nd Flush but failed to get any of it and when I was offered the muscatel teas after the contract was over the monsoons had kicked in and we had to reject the teas then but I regularly kept in touch with the Manager as the muscatel character could again happen in Autumn and Castleton makes some 3000kgs of pure autumn teas and the rest are sold as pre-autumn teas, the identity of a good autumn tea from this garden is that the cup has to be golden orange in liquor and the nose has to possess a mixture of pine and muscatel flavor.
I was called to the garden by Mr. Mukhia (Manager, Castleton Tea Garden) on the 31st of October `09, Mr. Mukhia is also a family friend of us so he arranged to keep samples of 5 different china type muscatel samples and a clonal tea sample for me, they arranged a tea tasting as soon as I reached the garden, he tried his best to sell me the clonal tea which was also good too but I am honestly sick and tired of clonal teas from Castleton this year as for wholesale purpose we have brought at least 800kgs of the clonals from them, as one can guess I was there for a good muscatel tea and not the “lights and florals” anymore. After tasting the 5 muscatel tea samples I selected the invoice DJ-357 tea which was a well sorted tea, had a great Muscat grape and piney nose, the liquor was very attractive and the cup is really full flavored muscatel type but sadly this invoice consists of very limited quantity of tea, since it contains only some 90kgs in the lot, so a tea lover has to rush for this tea before this gem of a tea gets out of stock!
